About

Starting out in 2008 at the age of 18, Brent attended the University of New Haven for a BA in Music and Sound Recording and a BA in Music Industry. There, he learned the basics and started working with local artists and bands. While at school, Brent landed a Front of House position at a legendary DIY music venue called The Space in Hamden, CT. After three years of honing his craft in studios and venues across southern CT, Brent packed his bags and moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2013.

While becoming acclimated to Los Angeles, Brent worked as a freelance engineer, getting the opportunity to work in many of the top recording facilities in the city, including Capitol Records, Sony, RCA, Henson, and more. Dream Studios, located in Echo Park, became Brent's first studio home in LA. Under the manager Tom Malkowitz, Brent learned the ways of the studio and quickly became a familiar favorite there. After a few years of sharpening his toolset, Brent parted ways with Dream.

In June 2017, Brent started working as an engineer at Big Bad Sound LA. The studio quickly outgrew its home in Silverlake, and the owners, Jack and Zach, reopened as a new commercial facility in 2019. With the addition of loads of new equipment, Brent was able to get hands-on with some of the most coveted recording equipment in the industry, allowing him to understand and appreciate his craft on a whole new level. Some of the artists Brent has worked with at Big Bad include Jessame Berry, The Wailers, The Americans, Grace Weber, MILLY, Sam Marsey, and many others.

Soon after, Brent opened his own recording studio called the Orange Room. This studio was part of Palmquist Studios, formerly known as Infrasonic Sound. Here, Brent built his client roster, working with many independent artists, creators, and record labels. In 2020, Brent teamed up with his friend and colleague Chris Ascher, aka Shaggy. The two focused on producing music for pop, R&B, and hip-hop artists, achieving success with several artists, including Sugar Joans, Cody Christian, Kawasi, and Yellowbird Mantra.

Being passionate about film soundtracks, Brent started experimenting with sound design. In 2019, he began collaborating with his friend and colleague, sound designer and editor Matt Schaff. That same year, they were nominated for an MPSE Golden Reel Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing for the film "To Your Last Death," directed by Jason Axinn.

All while being immersed in the studio world, Brent also works as a live audio engineer. In 2013, he started working at one of the top event/talent companies in the country, West Coast Music, Design Sound INC. Here, he learned the skills and technology implemented in the highest levels of live production. After seven years, opportunity knocked and brought Brent to Dart Collective, another event/talent company with locations in LA, TX, and NY. Brent quickly moved up to Director of Audio and Chief Engineer at Dart, being responsible for sound reinforcement for all of their events.

On the side, Brent serves at Resurrection Church of LA as Director of Audio. Since 2013, he's helped provide clear and professional sound for all services and events for the congregation and broadcast listeners.

In 2021, Brent joined a local LA band called Clear Capsule. After the success of their EP "Gravity Licker," the band went on tour and played shows supporting Deafheaven, Hello Mary, Rocket, and many others. The band is currently working on their debut album.

Brent continues to work on albums and music while maintaining his passions for recording, mixing, mastering, live sound, and sound design.
